Many thanks to all and hope to see you again soon! On offer... (More pictures and full specification below) This is a lovely collection of children's porcelain nursery ware from the art deco years. The Noah's Ark design was registered in 1928, and these pieces I think date from within a couple of years of that, the plate having an impressed date mark which looks like 1 over 30 (January 1930). They were produced for and sold by Lawley's of Regent Street in London , a well-known 'retail outfit for the best in china, glass and giftware', as they styled themselves in the 1920s, but t is no indication as to their original maker. On offer are a teaplate, a bowl and a cup, all over-glaze hand-painted with charming nursery figures of the animals going into the ark. As well as Mr & Mrs Noah (and she looks very dubious about the whole enterprise), t are zebras, lions, elephants, camels, giraffes, hippos, monkeys, birds, and some strange spotty long-horned deer. The colours are bright primary red, yellow, blue, green, and grey. Details, condition, marks and spec... The teaplate measures about 15.5 cm/6.1" across, the bowl is 16.5 cm/6.5" across, and the cup is 6.5 cm/2.6" high. Together the three pieces weigh 438 gms/15.5 oz unwrapped, and I estimate the final packaged weight will be about 1000 gms. All the pieces have the 'Lawleys, Estd Phillips's 1760, Regent St' , backstamp, the plate has an impressed date mark, and t are decorators' marks & pattern numbers. The British Registry mark, Rd. No. 726559 is on two of the pieces, dating the design to 1928. All three pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage, but t is some loss of the blue colouring on the pieces (see photos below).
