Stereoview photograph of the Waltham Watch Company factory in Waltham, Massachusetts, by T. Lewis of Cambridgeport, circa 1870s. The view, identified in period ink on the reverse as “Waltham Watch Factory,” shows a park and walkways in the foreground with the buildings of a large factory rising up at center. The factory was built in 1853 and 1854. By the 1870s, the company was known as the American Watch Co. but would become the American Waltham Watch Co. in 1885. They manufactured some of the finest pocket watches of the late 19th century. Very nice early Waltham image! The stereoview is in very good condition with only light wear and very light soiling. Note the light rubbing at the corners of the card. The photographs exhibit very good tonal range. Very good detail and very good or better 3d effect when viewed with a stereoscope!
