Superb Mid 19th Century Black Lacquer & Gilt Chinoiserie Decorated Trinket Box A choice addition for the collector of Chinese Export! This unusually large and fine box is wonderfully decorated with figures in courtyard settings amid foliage and trees. Attendants and the figure seated before a table on the gently domed lid are painted with raised heads and hands of pink-cream color. The box is complete with original silvered metal escutcheon plate and steel key. The lock is functional. Of particular note is the outstanding condition , with virtually no loss of fragile gilt decor, no cracks or repairs. Other than small scattered chips at rim edges, the 150 year old box is nearly flawless.
