This is a very fine example of early Cartier with the early Cartier hallmarks. It is make with extremely fine craftsmanship as to be expected. The top of the brooch is platinum and the base is 18K. It features fabulous colored deep purple Amethyst Cabochon and Emerald cut stones. The center cabochon is 6 prong set in platinum and the emerald cut stones are channel set in platinum as well and graduate in size outward. Following the channel set amethysts are 5 Rose Cut Diamonds which are individually bead prong set and also graduate in size outward. The ends are finished by small round cabochons of amethyst which are raised bezel set. The top layer which houses the stones is platnium and the base is 18K Yellow gold. The pin has a fabulous closure with a safety pivoting stabilizer for added security. This brooch is in fabulous condition. The hallmarks are: Serial number: 9308 with the diamond snapped cartouche C with the half present vertical moon & A. This hallmark was used by Cartier in the 1920's. There is also a touch mark on the pin itself Which is a horses head.
