Lovely sterling silver compact has an ornate flower and scroll design on the lid, and has been personalized with the initials MDM. It bears the hallmark attributed to R. Blackinton & Co, North Attleboro, Massachusetts. There is a number 1988 which I believe is a shape or style number, since this company was only in operation through 1967. It measures 2 7/8" by 2 1/4". The compact has a mirror....usable, but it does have some cloudiness. The top has a few tiny dings and one dent that is most noticed when the light hits it at a certain angle. The bottom does have a number of tiny ding/dents and is obviously scratched. Still a lovely vintage compact, and the clasp to open and close works as it should.
