Very unusual statue carving? of Punch-man. Not sure if it is made for the cigar company or for the British magazine, or both.. It is One of a kind and I have had it for many years. The statue is 23 inches overall and it measures 27 Inches tall when it is on its marble mount that weighs 20 lbs. The base measures 10 x 14 x 4 inches and is made of black and white marble. The base of the statue is 6x6 inches square. It is very much folk art but not sure which folks. Not sure what it is made of...maybe wood or some other material. It is not plaster though as I checked and it does not allow a pick or sharp object to go in. Not bronze because ... it is not light, but not heavy enough for that. It has been cold painted though and the paint is original to the piece. Very good condition this entire statue with base weighs appx 23 lbs. Very unorthodox and crazy piece it has brought many comments and much attention over the years. I have never seen another piece like this anywhere.I am starting the auction at $99 because the marble base is worth at least that much. The statue is not bolted but affixed with museum glue and could be displayed without the heavy base.
