This is a Stanley Bell System No. 2101A bit brace, 10" swing in excellent rejuvenated condition. This brace is marked Bell System as the Bell company bought these for their linemen and other workers. Bell System requested a specificlubricant be used when assembling these braces. This lubricant has become known today as "green goo" because it reacted with the metal parts of the brace and turns to a green gunk that really messes things up in the brace, the stuff is nasty!I have completely disassembled this brace, every part that can be removed has been taken apartand cleaned. This process includes removing the green goo, filing any burrs the factory missed or didn't care about, cleaning the individual parts (including each ball bearing) and re-lubricating the parts prior to assembly. This is a long process but the results are so worth it. This drill operates like new, it's smooth throughout each operation, locks when it should and performs flawlessly. There are ball bearings at the base of the palm, those were cleaned and re-greased. There are ball bearings at the end of the chuck; no easy task but those were also removed, cleaned and re-lubed prior to assembly. Each part has been meticulously cleaned, inspected for wear and re-assembled.The brace shows some light wear to thenickel plating in places as can be seen in the above images. read more
