Early Childs Pearlware Serving Platter VINE AND BERRIESStaffordshire England c. 1835This is a stunning miniature transferware platter or meat plate , circa 1835, originally part of a complete miniature children's tea set or dollhouse dinner service. Measuring 6 inches long and 5 inches across, brilliant berry red, decorated with precision iand finished with pearlware glaze decorated with a delicate overall trailing sheet print of ripe red berries on a vine.The platter is unmarked. The pattern is found in the Milbourn book Understanding Miniature British Pottery & Porcelain (p. 109). The pattern is attributed to William Hackwood, or its successor Cockson & Harding one of the fine potteries in the Staffordshire region of England c 1835. Other potteries in Staffordshire and the northern regions were known to use this pattern, as well.The tray is in perfect condition with no chips cracks or repairs. The transfers are precisely placed with only typical manufacturing imperfections, original to the making. A wonderful and festive platter to complete your service or display in the finest dollhouse!
