MAGNIFICENT BOXED SET OF VICTORIAN STERLING SILVER & PARCEL GILT APOSTLE SPOONS - MADE BY MAPPIN & WEBB SILVERSMITHS TO THE QUEEN - ASSAYED LONDON 1889 These fine quality matching set of serving spoons with gilded bowls weigh a total of 10.1 troy ounces (314 grams). The spoons are about 7¾" (19.5cm) long and are just over 2" (53mm) across the bowl, the lovely pierced ladle spoon is about 7 ¼" (18.5cm) long and 2 ½" (59mm) across the bowl. All are in superb condition with no damage or loss of gilding, all have a full set of very clear hallmarks for London 1889 and all are stamped J.N.M into a sheild for John Newton Mappin. The original leather clad fitted case has a silk and felt lining with brass fittings and is also in really excellent condition, with no damage to the silk or felt, the only blemish is some minor indentations to the lid.
