Here is a solid silver teaspoon which weighs in at 9 grams on my very unsophistcated kitchen scales. The bowl of the spoon is inscribed with the following: Kings College Engineers Rifle Club - F. J. MACLENNAN - 1900. I suspect it was an award for some achievement in the club. As can be seen, the stalk of the spoon is of barleytwist design, and the spoon measures 10.5 cms. The tab at the top of the spoon is imprinted with a detailed lion, a detailed crown and a book. This MIGHT be something to do with the college - but that's a complete guess. As regards hallmarking, this is indistinct, but looks like the anchor, the letter Z, and the lion passant (in that order). Also the makers mark EJN over NH within a shield. I understand this relates to Haseler Brothers of Birmingham - Edward John Haseler and Noble Haseler - and 1899. That's as much as I can identify, but if you have any questions, please ask and I'll respond as best I can. Thanks for looking at this item.
