This auction is for Royal Doulton's Toby Mug / Jug of Sir Francis Drake (#D 6174). This is Style Two with Drake wearing a hat. The backstamp on this piece is the early "A" with lion over crown.This stamp dates this jug from 1941-1955 and was designed by Harry Fenton. It is in MINT condition. The handle resembles a piece of rope. Sir Francis Drake (1540-1596) was an English navigator and admiral. He was Queen Elizabeth's I's right hand when he repelled the Spanish Armada sent to invade England. This jug is 3 1/ 4 inches tall and is without chips, scratches, repairs or crazing. It is from my family's private collection and has been stored carefully in a china closet. No stock photos are used - what you see is what is you will receive.
