Vintage Simplex KettleVery good condition on this chrome over solid copper Simplex Buckingham tea kettle. One of their oldest designs, the Buckingham has been made in England by Simplex since the design was patented in 1903.This heirloom kettle is handcrafted with a chrome finish over solid copper. Designed for use on gas burners only, the kettle has a coiled copper wire base to ensure rapid heating. (can actually be used on electric burners, if the burner is small enough to fit between the coiled edges-5.5" across, but is meant for gas burners.)The kettle has a patented whistle system, where there is a small metal ball inside the spout. Tipping the kettle forward to pour, will cause the ball to move and rattle. This is normal and does not indicate a fault.This kettle is gently used and is still very shiny and clean. There is a small ding on either side of the kettle, but they are so small I could not get them to show up in the photos; just want to be sure to disclose. Patent numbers on the spout, lid, and bottom of kettle, as shown in photos. Hard wood handle stays cool when you pour; there is just one tiny chip to the black paint at one handle-end. Lid stays tight when you pour.The interior of the kettle is lined with tin, but there is a lot of copper showing through. 9.5" tall at top of handle. 7.5" across the bottom. Beautiful, read more
