This is a numbered, signed, matted and framed Edgar Holloway etching, untitled, but I believe one in a series he did of Troy, New York . � Holloway (1914-2008) was a british artist noted for his work in various disciplines, but he began with and, in his later years returned to, etching and engraving, with his work bought and exhibited by various institutions. He did a number of etchings of the Troy area while living in the states.The printing was a limited run of 75 pieces, of which this was number 33, as indicated in the lower left corner. Holloway's signature, dated 1972, is in the lower right corner. The etching is matted, under glass, in a gilded wood frame. The live area is approximately 8.375" x 11.25". The art has a visible border within the matte, with the live area and border approximately 8.625" x 11.75". The overall dimensions, including the frame, are 17" x 14". I haven't removed the art from its frame, but it appears to be in fine condition, with no stains, tears, fade, or other flaws.� The frame itself, antiqued gilt wood, has no flaws of note, but the cover paper on the back is stained to its sides. This is probably the original frame, as the label on the back is that of Clement Frame & Art Shop, Troy. The above photos are accurate reflections of the print conditions.
