Boldly signed, dated and placed by the author directly to the title page and inscribed warmly "To Joy Kritzer, who likes to read. I hope she finds a hundred books she likes." From the esteemed modern first collection of Ms. Kritzer, this relatively scarce book club edition is one of the few signed copies available online. Of course, being inscribed, placed and dated by the author makes it even scarcer thus.The book itself appears unread and is near fine, with just the slightest bit of pushing/rubbing at the spine ends, and a few tiny dings to the text block edges. The dust jacket - which is protected by a removable Brodart archival cover - is in very good condition, with a few small professionally repaired closed edge tears (including two 3/4" tears at the top of the spine), and some light wear at the corners/spine ends - professionally reinforced. Overall a sharp collectible copy of one of Michener's most sought after works.
