SIGNED C1860 FRENCH 3 LIGHT LAMP BASE ANIMALIER BRONZE OF A KINGFISHER BIRD NR This listing is for a signed circa 1860 French Animalier bronze of a kingfisher bird and is also a 3 light lamp base. The lamp measures 20 ½ inches or 52 cm high, and is 15 ½ inches or 39.5 cm at its widest. The bronze features a dynamic almost full size figure of a kingfisher bird perched on a branch. The limbs of the branch rise up behind the bird and create the three outlets for the lights. The bronze is done with excellent attention to detail in the figure and the foliage. The bronze has a milk chocolate brown patina or color which is all original to the piece. It is signed at the left of the base “F. PAUTROT”. This is for Ferdinand Pautrot (early 19 th century) who was born in France and exhibited at the Salon from 1861-1870. He was an Animalier, specializing in hunting themes. Please reference “The Dictionary of Sculptors in Bronze” BY James Mckay page 290. The bronze is in excellent, age appropriate, condition. The lamp is not currently wired and would require the kind attention to do so. Please see the many photographs for more on the look and condition of this fine French bronze 3 light lamp base.
