This is a beautiful June 1st, 1959 playbill from the Original Broadway production of the LORRAINE HANSBERRY play "A RAISIN IN THE SUN" which played the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in New York City. (The production opened March 11th, 1959 and ran for 530 performances.) ..... The play starred SIDNEY POITIER and featured CLAUDIA McNEIL, RUBY DEE, LOUIS GOSSETT, DIANA SANDS, IVAN DIXON, JOHN FIEDLER, GLYNN TURMAN, LONNE ELDER III, ED HALL and DOUGLAS TURNER ..... CREDITS: Book by LORRAINE HANSBERRY; Sets designed by RALPH ALSWANG; Costumes designed by VIRGINIA VOLLAND; Directed by LLOYD RICHARDS; Produced by PHILIP ROSE and DAVID J. COGAN ..... DETAILS: The 38 page playbill measures 6 1/2" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes and bios of each of the leading actors but with the exception of the front cover, no cast photos ..... CONDITION: With the exception of minor creasing from normal handling, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
