A very robust and handsome pen the 'Award', made around in the 1990s, is an updated version of the 'Flat tops' of the 1920s. This pen is in perfect condition throughout, I do know that it has only been used a couple of times from new.At 13cm. capped and with a diameter of 1.4 cm. the feel of the pen is that of a somewhat 'chunky' and quite heavy pen. Because of the 'snap on' design of the cap and barrel which comprises a chrome plated barrel 'tassie' the pen 'grows' to a very impressive 16.6 cm. when posted. The cap ' Sheaffer used an engraved circle rather than the 'white dot' as a sign of quality on this pen. The pen is fitted with a super smooth Sheaffer steel nib which is marked 'M' for medium. Sheaffer nibs are usually finer than expected, this one is more like a 'Parker' fine than medium. It is a very comfortable and 'easy' pen in use, the rubberised surface of the section adds to the good well balanced feel of the pen.The practicality of the cartridge filling system and the robust build of this pen added to its superb writing performance make it an ideal choice as an 'every day user'. Please see my other pen listings. It is very important to me that you are happy with your purchases.
