RARE SET 4 VICTORIAN SILVER PLATE/MOTHER OF PEARL NUT OR LOBSTER CRACKERS-BURR WALNUT BOX A very unusual set of Victorian silver plate nut or lobster crackers (three match, one is odd) and four carved mother of pearl 'probes' to get the bits of nut out. Date to around 1880. Presented in their original burr walnut box with a shield in the lid with initials and midnight blue velvet interior. Even the hinges are engraved! Lock but no key. The nut crackers have been engraved also. The box has warped quite badly and does not close properly as per the image. There is also a shrinkage crack running along the length of the box near the hinges. Nut crackers measure 13.8cm long.
