RARE! First Edition The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham 1925 SIGNED 202/250 This large paper edition of The Painted Veil is limited to two hundred and fifty numbered copies signed by the author, of which this is number 202. Published by George H. Doran Company on Murray Hil: : New York in 1925. The paper cover is lightly soiled and darkened, with wear showing on the corners and some rubbing on the edges. The spine is sun darkened and soiled but still in tact and good condition. Paper spine label in good condition with light edge wear. I do believe there are a few small places where there spine has become slightly detached from the binding, but still appears to be mostly attached. The spine does have a few small tears in it though around the top and bottom from wear, but for the most part they only made it through a few layers of the heavy paper and not all the way to the binding. The inside front endpages appear as if they once had stickers inside, with white patches of paper showing, and a small partial sticker on the back of the cover, but otherwise clean and clear of other markings. The rest of the text is very clean and crisp with no markings, folds, or tears and appears as if the book has never been read or even opened all the way in the text.The title page however was opened all the way and you can see down into the joint,
