Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine The Legacy Edition of Supernatural expands Santana’s blockbuster 1999 album with a full disc of bonus material, mostly unreleased cuts from the recording sessions. Many of these feature the Santana band alone, departing from the superstar-collaboration blueprint of the album and, in turn, suggesting what the record could have been without the guidance of Clive Davis — namely, a perfectly fine latter-day Santana album with the group doing what they’ve always done, only without the pop songs and flair that brought them a wider audience.
