Item Description A wonderful demitasse or coffee cup and saucer, made in Bavaria ( Germany ) by Rosenthal and dating, I believe, to the 1920’s. They are decorated with a pattern in overlaid Sterling (.925) Silver on a black ground. Approximate Size Cup ~ 2 ¼” deep and 2” in diameter at the rim. Saucer ~ 4 ⅛” in diameter. Condition Excellent with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. There are a couple of small white dots (scratches?) to the cup and similar on the saucer which also has some light useage marks to the silver from where the cup has been sat on it (which don’t detract greatly from it) . Maker’s Marks The ‘Rosenthal Bavaria ’ mark on the bottom of each piece is shown in the pictures. The bottom of the silver edge of the saucer and the rim of the cup are impressed with ‘ STERLING ’. Age From the little research I’ve done, I believe that the back mark on these pieces was used between 1907 and the 1930’s. From the style, I would guess that they date to about the mid 1920’s.
