Up for auction is this magnificent, large Rookwood Pottery vase designed and handcrafted in 1922 by the artist Elizabeth Neave Lincoln. Ms. Lincoln went by the nickname 'Lizzie' and all of her pieces, including this vase, are signed 'LNL'.This gorgeous hand-painted vase features an overall matte, vellum glaze of mottled rosy-pink-mauve on the exterior's base, with a mottled green on the bottom. The large overall floral design is uniquely stunning in shades of reds, pinks, greens and blue. The interior is painted in the same mottled rosy-pink-mauve as the exterior's base.This piece is marked on the underside with the characteristic Rookwood Pottery mark with Roman numerals XXII indicating it was created in 1922, just shy of it being officially antique. The vase's shape is indicated by the numbers 1358.Measures 13-1/4" high, 6-3/4" wide at the base and 5" wide across the opening at the top. It weighs 7 pounds.This vase is in very good condition ~ no chips, no cracks, no crazing, no repairs. Please note, at the base: There is one fleabite and what appears to be tiny dried flecks of white paint around the base. The last photo shows the fleabite and the largest of the white flecks. And if you zoom in on the photo, you'll see the paint fleck is definitely not a chip. I did not try to clean off the paint specks because I didn't want to read more
