Offered is a large and fancy silverplate fish knife or cake cutter with a handle in the Rogers "Persian" pattern. The pattern dates from 1871. The piece comes in its original fitted presentation box. Stamped in gold on the burgundy silk lining of the inside top is "Rogers Smith & Co., New Haven, Ct." The knife is from my personal collection, and I've had it for decades. This will make a wonderful wedding or birthday presentation gift, for ceremonial cake cutting! Note the beautiful ivy with twigs and tendrils engraved on one side of the blade. Fancy! The box, with a beveled top, is 12" x 2". Knife is 11 1/2" long. Blade is 6 3/4" long x 1 3/4" wide. The knife has a serrrated bottom and is in super-excellent condition, with very minor age-related surface scratches. Handle is engraved, J.E.B.H. in fancy, small script. A 1/4" water spot on the back handle can be buffed out. I'm starting at fair price and no reserve. If you have questions, please ask. Thanks for looking! Sorry, I do NOT ship out of the country.
