Richard Klemm Antique Dresden Flowers China Rococo Porcelain Cvd Sugar BowlClick images to enlargeDescription I just purchased this Karl Richard Klemm porcelain covered sugar bowl from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The sugar was produced by the famed Striesen bei Dresden, Germany decorating studio / porcelain works founded in 1869. Klemm, along with Helena Wolfsohn, Karl Thieme, Ambrosius Lamm and Donath & Co. were among the most sought after artists of the period (1880s). The bowl and lid are well executed in bright white porcelain with crisp mold and clean angular lines to the arced handles and ringed body. The Dresden Flowers hand painted décor shows rich color and fine detail throughout. The 24k gold enamel highlights have a rich patina (some trace wear on the handle edges). The sugar measures 3 ¾" high at the loop finial, 6 ¼" wide at the handles and 4 ¼" deep. The base bears the "RK GERMANY" blue crown mark. Both bowl and lid are in very good condition with no damage. This lovely Klemm covered sugar would make a fine addition to your collection of 19th century Dresden porcelains.
