Radio Show FORGOTTEN OLDIES #29 TRIBUTE TO ELVIS PRESLEY w/RARE UNRELEASED SONGS

Picture yourself back in the late 50's or 60's, even the 70's. You were glued to your transistor radio listening to the top 40 presented by your local radio station. You had that radio glued to your ear or connected with the little earphone jack that immediately broke. Your local dj was great. He knew the music. He had the gift of talking which rarely occurs anymore. You loved the presentation of the music as much as the sounds. You liked the station jingles. And on weekends when the local dj's had off, you listened to either taped shows they did during the week to be played on the weekend or a syndicated radio show featuring one of the greats. It was the golden age of rock. Music was king and the dj's were just as popular. You can relive those days whether you grew up then or just wish you had on only a handful of oldies shows. THIS IS ONE OF THEM. Most of you who know me, collectors who have dealt with me over the years, know that one of my favorite series of all time is this, FORGOTTEN OLDIES. I'm still offering some of my most special shows to you and THESE shows are EXTREMELY RARE. I was very fortunate to come across most of the first year of this virtually unknown oldies show called Forgotten Oldies Show . I am not even sure it went past the first year of its syndication, but what I have is amazing and belongs in your collection. Each week, Dave "Records" Stone, a well known upper Northwest dj who worked with many of the legends of rock music and himself was a local legend, presented the very best of the forgotten oldies of the early rock era. Sometimes he had a special theme and sometimes he just played them one after the other, but they were all great songs that you just don't hear anymore. Each show contained around 16 songs divided into four program segments. The show is syndicated by the Stone Radio Group. My feeling is that the syndication was to oldies stations in the upper northwest. I have researched on the internet and cannot find anything about the show although Dave does have a blog that looks interesting. Apparently he has continued his career locally and is very well known still. He syndicated one other show, a four hour weekly oldies show probably for a weekend airing called the Time Machine . I cannot tell if that show ran after the what might be limited run of Forgotten Oldies Show or if it ran during the same time period. As with many small budget syndication shows (which by the way has nothing to do with the quality of the show - some of the best radio shows were from small syndicators), the labels are not fancy - just a CD-R with the standard Avery label across the top with the show title, airing date, and show number. Also as with many small syndication shows, there are not cue sheets with the show. However, I have listened to each show and will provide you with a song list for every show of the series. Dave had special features on every show such as "Where Are They Now" where he focused on one artist and what they are doing today. One week it was Edd Kookie Burns, another it was Jay of Jay and the Americans. Each tribute was followed up with one of their more obscure hits. The national commercials are included on the show but are focused on the Pacific Northwest area. There are neat jingles throughout the show, before or after most of the songs reflecting the 60's Boss Sound that this show is modeled after and which Dave was a part of. IT IS A GREAT SHOW; IT IS RARE; THE SONGS ARE TERRIFIC! IT BELONGS IN YOUR COLLECTION. Dave not only plays the songs but his knowledge of music and the groups is fantastic. He presents information and tid bits about the songs that I did not even know. I cannot say enough about this great show. I will begin listing the shows I have for your enjoyment.
