From the Ragsdale Collection, autographs captured of the movers and shakers of today at New York City area events they participated in or were spotted in the audience (from 1997-2008, 2012-2013). Many are one-of-a-kind. Especially this one.On October 2, 2004 I secured the autographs of Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather when they came together for the last time in public to talk about covering the Presidential election. It took place in front of a capacity crowd in the magnificent Celeste Bartos Forum of the New York Public Library - part of the annual New Yorker Festival. After it I got the three news anchors to sign the very colorful program… with that of the moderator of the discussion, awarding winning journalist Ken Auletta. It took place just after Mr. Rather apologized for his erroneous reporting about the National Guard service of George W. Bush. In the discussion Jennings came to support of Rather with, “I don’t think you ever judge a man by only one event in his career.” A NYT cutout article about their conversation and a second unsigned fourfold program will be included. I was there as a member of a C-SPAN video crew covering it. It can be found online in C-SPAN’s video library.
