Pearlware Miniature Childs Toy BowlSEAWEED FLOWERSDavenport Staffordshire England c1840This is a gorgeous antique transferware miniature toy soup bowl originally part of a complete miniature childs dinner set. The tiny dish measures 3-5/8 inches across with deep center well and flared rim.It is transfer printed in country blue on white decorated with a tangle of seaweed and stylized sweet pea flowers, finished with ponded blue pearlware glaze. The motif reflects the Victorian love of nature.The pattern name is unknown, and appears to be undocumented but we call it Sweet Pea because of the tiny flowers and seaweed like foliage. The plate is marked with the backstamp of the maker Davenport. It dates to the mid-19th century in the Staffordshire England potting region.It in great condition with no chips cracks or repairs. Minor typical firing imperfections. Children's transferware of this quality is quite scarce and highly sought after.
