This is a 12" X 12" X 3" box full of documents. The box is made to look like a book. The "spine" of the box says "Papers of Joseph M. Carey." Joseph Maull Carey was the 8th Governor of Wyoming (1911-1915). He was also a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1885-1890 and a U.S. Senator (1890-1895). Governor Carey died in 1924 at the age of 79.The box has hundreds of documents. There are many canceled checks with the governor's signature. There are copies of legislation with handwritten notes attached. There are property deeds, invoices, etc. There is also quite a bit of correspondence. Much of it is incoming correspondence to Governor Carey (as you'd expect). I looked through about 10 percent of this collection before becoming overwhelmed. There's really no telling what may be in here.The box is in rough shape, but the contents are in generally very good shape considering their age. Including the box, this documentation ways more than 6 pounds. The majority of the documents that I looked at were dated from about 1890 to about 1910.Very interesting collection of Wyoming and United States history.I have no idea how to price a collection like this. I'll set the starting bid at $99 and we'll see what happens.
