Lovely large pair of creamy white large 10" Staffordshire dogs. These were my mother in laws, which she had a very long time. They are quite charming with pleasing expressions, from the 1840-1870 period. One has a crack on the back bottom. It isn't noticeable or unstable. I date them by the fine crazing on body and glazed bottom, warm worn old gold gilding, tiny firing hole on bottom and back, flat mold seams along backs, quality of painting, very pleasing with fine brush whiskers and red mouth, yellow eyes, good modeling detail, trim painted over glaze, and no markings. Also they are not exactly the same, which you want in old figures (exact matches are a red flag, as are large coin size bottom holes, no seams, bright mirror like gold, no fine crazing or none matching on bottom, under glaze painting, no fine whisker painting. Those things indicate repros and newness.) Nice large size, and very pretty.
