Oktober 1901. 1901. 46 pages, 1 double page black and white plate, 83 mostly black and white and some partially colored photos & illustrations, 11 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches, German, paperback the front cover and back cover have chips, the spine been nicely repaired, light text browning Art Nouveau, Germany, Otto Eckmann, Graphic Art, Furniture, Metalwork, Silver, Textiles, Lighting, Jugendstil From Wikepedia Otto Eckmann (November 19, 1865 – June 11, 1902) was a German painter and graphic artist. He was a prominent member of the "floral" branch of Jugendstil .[ 1] He created the Eckmann typeface, [2 ] which was based on Japanese calligraphy . Otto Eckmann was born in Hamburg , Germany in 1865. He studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Hamburg and Nuremberg and at the academy in Munich . In 1894, Eckmann gave up painting (and auctioned off his works) in order to concentrate on applied design . He began producing graphic work for the magazines Pan in 1895 and Jugend in 1896. He also designed book covers for the publishers Cotta , Diederichs , Scherl and Seemann , as well as the logo for the publishing house S. Fischer Verlag .
