Original Comic Art Splash Page of DC Comics' Batman : Shadow of the Bat #20, Page 16 by artist Vincent Giarrano This is a great page from Vince. He does the pencils and inks. The title of this book is "The Tally Man : Part 2" and comes from the Knightquest : The Crusade crossover in 1993. This page features the character of Jean-Paul Valley (Azrael) as Batman and the ghost of his father, the previous Azrael.This book is part of the larger Knightfall storyline (1992-94) where Valley assumes the costume of Batman after his defeat and paralysis at the hands of Bane. Because of his training, and brainwashing, as Azrael by the Sacred Order of Saint Dumas, he suffers an identity crisis while wearing the Batman costume. This page is from the fight with the Tally Man, a hired killer sent to collect some 'debts' owed by Bruce Wayne. The Tally Man Appears to have the upper hand until Azrael/Batman is prompted on by the ghost of his father, the previous Azrael. This is a great splash page from a very important storyline in the history of Batman! I have met Vince many times at the great comic book store Cave Comics in Newtown, CT. I bought this directly from him at a signing there. He's not only a very personable guy but, a truly great artist beyond comics. He is a highly regarded American Realist Painter.
