The Onondaga Hotel Spoon, Syracuse N.Y. Antique Sterling Silver Spoon Figural handle with Indian Motif. The Onondaga call themselves Onoda'gega, sometimes spelled Onontakeka, which means People of the Hills. They are on of the original five Nations to accept the Peacemaker's message, and they joined together with the Mohaw, Onedia, Seneca and Cayuga to form the Iroquois Confederacy. First Lady Mrs. Franklin Roosevelt sponsored a Women's Democratic dinner at the Onondaga Hotel, in 1933. The hotel opened in 1910. Stamped Sterling and the Saart Bros. stamp. The Sterling Silver Manufacturing Co. of Providence, RI existed in the early 1900s. Their dies were purchased by Saart Bros. Weighs 12.5 grams. Measures 5 1/8" in length. Good Condition.
