This 1955 Underwood Leader comes in the very rare blue color. And in this case, the blue is very well preserved indeed. The photos should illustrate the overall glossy and excellent cosmetic condition of the typewriter. This is a Canadian-made Underwood, as the partial sticker on the right side indicates. I bought it five years ago from a Toronto seller and have had it in my collection since then. Despite the absence of a lever on the touch control, it has a nice touch! Very finger-friendly teardrop keys. All of them strike, the ribbon reverse (on the right side) works, return of carriage is good, backspace works, etc. The machine types a very clean line of pica type (see pic). You can type up a storm on this big blue baby! One mechanical issue: the right-hand margin set is apparently missing a piece and does not work. For someone handy, it might well be a do-able fix. The goldish case for the Leader reminds me a bit of a piece of luggage! It's big! Has a great handle, and despite some scuff marks and loss of finish in one spot, is in overall very good condition. Clean as a whistle inside. This is the only blue Underwood Leader I personally can recall seeing. With its case , it makes for a very nice 'package' deal.
