Obsidian Mirror Obsidian is a glassy, silica-rich volcanic rock with a hardness of 5-5.5. Black Obsidian mirrors have been used for centuries for scrying (looking into the future), both Nostradamus and Napoleon are reported to have used them. This example measures approx. 5.8 cms in diameter. Obsidian is said to have an affinity for the world of souls and can assist in the communication with spirits.
