BACKGROUND: A very rare, antique Swiss, 18th century porcelain vase. The vase was produced by the Nyon porcelain atelier in the French part of Switzerland, circa 1780. The vase is 12 inches tall and an exceptionally rare example as it involved intense and tedious handwork to cover the vase . The vase has a gold painted rim and base. The condition is great for it's age.The Nyon porcelain factory was founded by Jacquer Dortu & Ferdinand Muller in 1780. At first the two, imported the clay used from Limoges France and created pieces in the French & German styles. They were known for their high quality of craftsmanship and there pieces adorned the tables of well appointed tables in Switzerland, Russia, as well as, the tables of the Queen of Naples, Queen of Spain and of Marie Antoinette.
