FRAMEABLE Part-printed document signed in 1942 by North Carolina Governor J Melville Broughton. The document is an authorization for a justice to hold court. Size 10" by 15" on wove, rag-content paper, embossed state seal at lower left, bold signature in black ink; mildly age toned, overall fine condition. From Wikipedia: Joseph Melville Broughton (November 17, 1888 - March 6, 1949) was the 60th Governor of North Carolina from 1941 to 1945. He later briefly served as a United States Senator from January 3, 1949 until his death in office approximately two months later. This is a genuine original, period piece, not a copy or reproduction.
