This 10" felt military doll is a product of English doll artist Norah Wellings. Her dolls were associated with The Victoria Toy Works in the 1926 to 1960 era. She was famous for her dolls representing different shipping lines as well as her islander dolls.Norah's dolls can be identified with a sewn tag on the sole of the doll's foot saying: Made in England by Norah Wellings.During World War II, the Wellings doll production was severely cut back. Their showrooms in London were bombed and they no longer had export trade. Norah did manage to make a few military uniform dolls. This little fellow has seen some wear over the years as evidenced by the photos. He is still representative of Norah's work with his impish grin, carefully painted face, uniform and hat.He is being sold "as is".
