Please see photos to assess condition.I am more than happy to combine wins to minimize shipping costs.The brainchild of Gary Arlington, founder of the San Francisco Comic Book Company , arguably the first comic book store in the US, the New Nickel Library is a series of one-sheet comics and illustrations by top Underground, Golden Age and Newspaper strip artists that was intended to run 500 pages. They were printed on 8.5" x 11" heavy, often colored paper stock and are three-hole punched on the left margin for insertion in a binder.The first few are fairly tame reprintings of classic comic art. Somewhere down the line Arlington got the idea to assign underground artists new covers for the long-cancelled EC line of comics (like Weird Fantasy and Two-Fisted Tales ). This is where the fun really begins. Many of the pages are from the fantasy line of ECs, with art by Charles Dallas, Dave Geiser, and more, mixed in with rare art by Frank Frazetta, Alex Toth, Robert Crumb, and others.The project hit the skids when William M. Gaines, who held copyright on all EC material, threatened to sue Arlington for $50,000 if he continued the series.
