Since the 13th century, the Venician island of Murano has been synonymous with the creation of the finest and most elegant glass in the world. A little known fact is that under Constantinople, a decree was issued on 08 November 1291 that forbade the establishment of new glasshouses in Venice that meant the entire Venitian glass industry was concentrated on the island of Murano, as it still is today.
