MOTTAHEDEH– FIVE OVAL BONE DISHES or SIDE DISHES – GREATER BIRD OF PARADISE PATTERN – PORTUGAL c. 1975 Five oval bone or side dishes by Mottahedeh in assorted patterns of the Bird of Paradise pattern. The patterns are: Emperor of Germany’s BOP; Greater BOP; King BOP; Lesser BOP; and Lesser Superb BOP. Each dish features a large bird in the center surrounded by sprays of tropical foliage and a gold rim. These dishes could be used for bones, a small salad or any accompaniment on the well-laid table. Mottahedeh & Company of New York was the largest and most successful maker of fine porcelain in the U.S. for many years. Their china was purchased for the White House, several inaugurations and the State Department. The dishes are 6 5/8” long, 4 ¾” wide and 1” high. The condition is mint.
