Yesterday's News w/Magic is one of the most intricate scenes created by the noted American Artist Michael Garman in 1975. This scene was inspired by his vagabond days when, as Michael himself describes it, he spent his time winoing, sculpting, and selling his characters door to door. Michael Garman himself hand-casted and painted Hydrocal characters for this 31" long by 23" wide by 9" deep sculpture. The walls were made with polyurethane foam. He also incorporated resin, died flowers, copper wiring and other details to create his multi- dimensional work. His goal was to fit as much atmosp as possible into a portable space that people could live with in their own homes letting the scenes become as much a part of their lives as they were with his. The Michael Garman Museum indicates that this is a very rare piece and values it at minimum $17,500. Only a few were completed with the magical trick lighting and even fewer remain in operable condition today, some 35 years later. This piece does not have the obtrusive glass covering present on some other street scapes that inhibit viewer interaction and collect dust and fingerprints.
