McCarty's call it an Octagon Plate, and in my house, this is the plate for serving brownies and cookies. I like the rich color and the extra height. It is 8.5 inches in diameter and it stands about an 1" high. It has a recessed bottom which gives it the height. This recessed bottom is Pup's unique contribution. (Pup is Mrs. McCarty!) This plate has the McCarty river mark, their trademark; it is a resemblance to the Mississippi River and it is on most their nutmeg serving pieces. This plate is signed on the back. Each piece of pottery is unique and no two look alike. All McCarty pottery is crafted from Mississippi mud. This pottery is new (no brownies), and it comes directly from McCartys' studio.
