T MAYER BLUE TRANSFERWARE SUGAR BOWL, CANOVA, 1826-35 Description You are bidding on this Thomas Mayer (Stoke-Upon-Trent, England) blue transferware sugar bowl in the Canova pattern, made between the years c.1826-35.The maekr's mark is not on this piece, but I am experienced in transferware patterns and know this one is definitely Canova. The Canova pattern had several views but all contain the large vase as a focal point. This version has a man serenading a young woman in the center of the scene. The bowl is missing the lid which is common with an item this old. Three hairlines towards the base and bottom. One chip on the scalloped rim. Wear to the glaze on high points. Dimensions: 4 3/4" high x 7 1/2" from handle to handle x 5"
