Signed 1ST EDITIONThe perfect gift for the person who has everything or for the most discriminating book collector of signed first editions.Franklin Library books are sought after, not only for their rarity, but also because they are a guarantee that the signature is a genuine signature from the author. They are also a true first edition, preceding the trade issues. Founded in 1973 and closed down in the year 2000, Franklin Library, the publishing division of The Franklin Mint, was the nation's largest publisher of great books in fine bindings. Signed 1st Editions were bound in genuine hand cut leather which was specially selected for the quality of grain and texture. Each edition has individually designed ornamentation of 22 kt gold impressed into the leather on each front and back cover as well as the spine. The spine has hubbed raised horizontal ridges as is the tradition of fine book bindings. Pages are of the highest quality paper, specially milled for beauty and long life. End sheets are made of fine moire fabric, in colors that enhance and match the bindings. All three sides of the page edges are protected with a coating of 22 kt gold. The pages were gathered into separate "signatures" and then individually thread sewn into each book. A silk ribbon book marker coordinated with the cover is bound in.
