This is a autographed approximately 8" x 10" still of the 22" x 28" half sheet movie poster for the 1932 Josef Von Sternberg film, Shanghai Express, starring Marlene Dietrich, Anna May Wong, Clive Brooks, and Warner Oland. This is not an original motion picture still but rather a reprint still of a poster. Condition is very fine. I do not have a Certificate of Authenticity for this item but it come from my personal collection and has an interesting back story which I will now relate:In the mid to late 1980s, I was working at Cinemonde Posters, a gallery of original movie posters and memorabilia in San Francisco. At that time, we had an agreement with Marlene Dietrich's manager (this was around the time documented in Maximilian Schell's documentary, Marlene (1984), when she was living in the apartment in Paris), to sell copies of her book, Marlene Dietrich's ABC, 1984, for $100.* We had boxes of these books then, (all gone now), that she had personally autographed. I managed to get the star's home address and sent her two photos. One of these photos is long gone, but this one, a photo of the rare, original half-sheet for Shanghai Express, was signed by Miss Dietrich. I mailed it to her home address in Paris.
