approximately one gallon capacity bottle with original brass spigot, raised on a wafer-applied single-step circular base, original tulip-form open-top stopper.Color: colorless flint, Attribution: Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. Circa: 1865-1875. Condition: Remarkably undamaged. Size: Height: 21 in. overall; height dispenser: 17 in.; diameter foot: 5 1/2 in. Catalog Notes: This is dispenser represents one of the great icons of Early American Pattern Glass. The illustrations in Barlow/Kaiser and Metz are both of the example at the Sandwich Glass Museum. Lee and McKearin illustrate the same example from a private collection. A third example is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is on display in the American Wing.
