Limited edition badge to commemorate the centenary of the formation of the County Armagh Regiment of the Ulster Volunteer Force 5th Battalion - the Lurgan Volunteers. The 'Lurgan' Battalion at its peak consisted of 1735 men divided up into 9 Companies with the designations from A to I. These companies included 4 based in and in the direct vicinity of Lurgan; and others in Kinnego, Tamnificarbet, Drumgor, Bleary and Bannfoot/ Derrymacash. The commander was Major G.W. Greer of the 'Wilderness', an ex officer of the 3rd Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers. The badge is a mock replica of a cap badge of the period. The item has deliberatly been manufactured to be a higher quality than typical badges. It is heavy and had butterfly attachments to the rear as opposed to the normal one. It is 40mm wide and has been done as a small run limited edition primarily for locals.
