Outstanding 1822 etching, "Veduta degl’Avanzi delle Torri di Belisario," by well-known Italian printmaker Luigi Rossini (1790-1857). Rossini studied art and architecturein Bologna and Rome. After attempting to gain architectural commisions in Rome (and failing), Rossini followed in the footsteps of his predecessor Piranesi and created a series of architectural etchings of the buildings and remains of Ancient Rome. This etching was part of Le Antichita Romane (Views of Ancient Rome) published in Rome in the 1820s. The artist and title are identified in the lower margins. The print is in very good condition, measuring 16.25" x 20.5" (plate size). Nicely framed with a marbled mat (frame has a fews nicks and scuffs).
