Longman, Andrew Lang. Longman's Magazine was published in November 1882 thru October 1905. Its focus was fiction and the Romantic fiction of the various Longman's authors such as H. Rider Haggard, Thomas Hardy, Robert Louis Stevenson, and others. Andrew Lang, although best known for his Children's Stories (The Blue Fairy Book, etc.) his monthly column in Longman's "At the Sign of the Ship" contained some of the earliest commentary about the writings of Sherlock Holmes and Charles Dickens.
