Ladies Vintage Bulova 14K SOLID GOLD Fancy Lug Vintage 17j Swiss Cocktail Watch

I’ve always loved Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Timing Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00p.m., Bulova Watch Time.” I am happy to offer for sale the following vintage Bulova timepiece, an original ladies 14kt Solid Yellow Gold “cocktail” model that dates to 1973. This fancy lug, evening watch is in immaculate shape both inside and out and is ALL original right down to its pretty faceted crystal. Quadruple-signed for Bulova (case, crown, dial and mechanism), it measures a petite 26mm lug tip to lug tip and 15mm in width (16.4mm with Bulova-signed crown). In inches this works out to be 1” long by 5/8” wide including the “B” for Bulova signed crown and the overall length with black cord bracelet is 7-1/2 inches . My Bulova-trained watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel Swiss mechanism, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. The 100% original silver enamel finished dial is in flawless condition, untouched since it left the factory. It features applied yellow gold hour markers and incised gold markers and original gold Baton-style hands. Signed BULOVA below the 12 marker and - SWISS - at the base of the dial. The original faceted edge crystal adds an extra “sparkle” to the watch and is in excellent shape. The two-piece case is a very elegant design with fancy lugs, almost fleur-de-lis in a more modern style. The entire case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and is in excellent PLUS condition. The original winding crown is signed “B” for Bulova and in excellent condition, operating smoothly. Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent condition with no wear, stamped “14K BULOVA”. This was an award watch for 25 years of service and it is dated 1973 (also noted by the “N3” date code on the lid, also for 1973). By the condition of the watch it appears that the watch was worn little if at all since it was awarded almost 40 years ago. Inside I find a clean manual wind movement that is stamped Bulova Watch Co., Seventeen 17 Jewels, 6CD – Swiss, N3 . The “N3” is Bulova’s date code for 1966. The inside of the case back is stamped 14K GOLD, L&W . This cleaned, oiled and regulated watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time . It is fitted on its original vintage black cord bracelet strap with yellow gold filled clasp that measures 7-1/2 inches in length - easily shortened (or even lengthened by changing the cord) by me if needed before I mail it to you.
